Energetics and the Days of the Week

One of my biggest intentions in life is to live in alignment with nature. Nature naturally has energetic imprints that, when we align with them, allow us to live a life more in flow and connected, instead of forced. She is always holding space for us to feel into and align our lives with these energies, ready whenever we are.

The world seems to structure itself around cycles; seasons, phases of the sun and moon, women’s moon cycles, just to name a few. Each of these cycles comes with different energies that directly impact us in our everyday lives. Though these influences may seem subtle or even insignificant at first, the more you pay attention and tune in, the more you may realise how powerful they are.

Another energetic cycle is that of the days of the week. For many, Monday - Friday are work days and the weekend is time off. There is not much more thought or inquiry into it beyond that. However, each day of the week has a unique energy that accompanies it. Without realising it, people are impacted by these energetics! There is a reason (beyond having to go back to work) that Mondays can feel challenging and it makes sense that Friday nights are a time when people want to go out and socialise.

Unfortunately, our society is not structured for us to live in alignment with these energies and often we allow societal rules and expectations to dictate our schedules. While it may not be possible for most of us to completely structure our days in accordance with these weekly energetics, it can be powerful to have this information. When you know the energy of each day of the week, along with how it may impact you, it allows you to incorporate small tangible activities or tools into your day to support you.

Below I provide a very simple and succinct overview of each day of the week, along with activities you can incorporate into your day, regardless of your schedule!

Monday — This way of living most interested me when I learned about Mondays - it seems to be a common theme that Mondays are challenging and it makes sense - Mondays are ruled by the Moon! The moon’s energy is intuitive, soft, emotional; it is a time to go inward and connect with yourself. It is a good day to prepare for your week ahead by planning what you want to get done and how you want to feel. This may explain why it can feel so exhausting and frustrating when we rush into the week at full force on Mondays. If possible, it might be nice to move slower on Mondays, run errands, work from home, or prioritise tasks where you are mainly by yourself. A powerful Monday ritual can be setting an intention for how you want to feel throughout the rest of the week, writing down your goals and creating to do lists.

Tuesday — Tuesdays are ruled by Mars. Mars is the planet of action and energy. It is a good day to jump into work projects and tasks. Tuesday is the time to start putting into action what you prepared and planned for on Monday. If you take the time to get clear and grounded on Monday, you are even better supported in the work you set out to do. Tuesdays should really be our Mondays, if you ask me.

Wednesday — Wednesday is ruled by Mercury which is the planet of communication and expression. Energetically, it is a good day to collaborate with others, take meetings, or have an important conversation. It is also a day that supports any type of creative expression so you may want to spend some free time journaling, making art, or going to a concert. It is also a good day to check in with yourself and the intention you set on Monday and make sure that what you are putting out into the world is in alignment.

Thursday — Thursday is ruled by Jupiter which is the planet of positivity, compassion, hope and expansion. It is a day to focus on gratitude and optimism. Being able to harness this energy can help us get through the end of a typical work week with a softness. Remind yourself to focus on kindness, staying patient and being open to what is unfolding around you. The energy of expansion provides support with problem solving, learning new things, and thinking outside of the box. It is a good day to prioritise learning, studying, productivity and spirituality - anything that opens your mind.

Friday — Friday is ruled by Venus. Venus is the planet of love, pleasure, and creativity; she embodies feminine energy. Today is a day to focus on feeling good. Prioritise any activity that makes you feel joy and connected to your senses. Friday is a great day to light your candles, take extra time to cook yourself a nourishing dinner, have a bubble bath or spend time with someone you love. Allow yourself to do whatever it is that makes you feel good in your body and happy to be alive, big or small. At work, focus on creative projects, if you have any, or schedule your favourite tasks and find ways to make each activity even a little more enjoyable.

Saturday — Saturday is ruled by Saturn which contains the energy of discipline and responsibility. This one may come as a surprise as Saturday is often viewed as the day to let loose and forget your responsibilities. However, Saturdays may be best spent getting grounded and prepared for the week ahead. It is a supportive time to work on projects and check things off of your to do list. It is a good day to do chores and spend time with the people you love doing the things that truly nourish your mind, body and soul.

Sunday — And finally Sundays… Sundays are ruled by the Sun! The sun is powerful, positive, and self focused. It is a good day to focus on you, really filling up your cup in a soft and gentle way before embarking on a new week. Sundays can be a nice day to spend time with others when the energy is kept light and it feels nourishing to you.

Remember - these are all suggestions and invitations to explore. The real alignment comes when you tune into what feels right and good for you and move from there. I hope this supports you in your journey to living in alignment with yourself and nature.
