Re-Wilding with Thirza Voysey

What do you know about equine therapy?

Welcome back!

This week on the podcast I had the pleasure of sitting down with equine therapist Thirza Voycey to talk about a concept she dedicated her whole career to: "Re-wilding". Not only was I curious to learn more about this seemingly fringe therapy but Thirza embodies what it means to live wildly and authentically. Let me give you the cliff notes

Rediscovering Self Through Radical Authenticity:

As you may know, living "Intuitively Wild" involves shedding the layers of societal conditioning that have built up over time and addressing all the often-ignored subjects that we like to push deep down. And Thurza's story is a perfect example. She started by opened up about her struggles with anxiety and disconnection from herself early in life and how with the help of horses (of all things), she found her power, confidence, and true self which lead her to a new professional path centered around these majestic animals.

The Healing Power of Horses

Thurza's opened up about how her daughter played a role in her inner healing journey and how horses enhanced her intuition and wildness. She explained said "Horses, as sensitive creatures, react to our authenticity more than our emotions, making them great teachers of intuitive living. They taught me that suppressing or faking emotions is more harmful than experiencing strong emotions themselves." Horses showed her how to ground herself and safely express her feelings. Wow.

Living Wildly: A Journey of Deep Connections

A highlight of our talk was Thirza's childhood dream of living among animals and nature. Despite starting in suburban life, she made this dream a reality on a farm with her children & horses. Her daughter's love for horses led to this transformative lifestyle change and reignited Thirza's passion for these animals. Thirza shared how equine-facilitated wellness became part of her social work, helping others form deep connections with horses.

Transformational Conversations with Horses

She described how horses helped her understand the seven energy centres, aka chakras, and build energetic strength. Going as far to say that this knowledge enhanced her equine-facilitated wellness programs like Becoming Wild, which empower people to strengthen their intuitive bonds with horses, embrace joy, and confidently stand in their truth.
