How to Find Magic

Pausing and bering in the stillness is so uncomfortable because it is everything we’re trained to avoid. But when we can stay with it we realise it’s all we ever need.

Our job is to continuously come back to it.

Our “work” here is to remember to return to the pause.

Everything else takes us away from ourselves. The pause allows us to return to centre.

When our brains constantly tell us the things we’re doing wrong, when anxiety runs in the background like an alarm warning us, it is easy to fall far from centre. It is easy to avoid any hope for stillness.

In actuality, the anxiety is another reminder to pause. All we need to do is bring awareness to the pause - to stillness and being and presence.

Without pausing we can believe the lies that busyness is the answer. The pause reminds us we’re here for what’s underneath all of that. The pause leads to space for the truth to be heard. The pause leads to deep connection and knowing. The pause leads to presence - and presence is your power. We have to find the people, places, pursuits… that remind us to pause. That draw us closer to center.

The pause is everything. Your presence is your power.

Yesterday on my walk the trees were dancing. Their colours were so vibrant, so alive, and they swayed back and forth with confidence and ease.

The leaves were falling gently, twirling and floating and surrendering to the wind.

I thought to myself - how brave to be so trusting in their path that they fall without worrying where they’ll end up. How powerful to be so embodied that they transform without wondering who will watch. How beautiful to be so grounded in themselves, that they shine without being preoccupied with if anyone will even notice.

I smiled at them, I closed my eyes and let the wind whisper secrets to me. I turned to the trees and asked them for their wisdom. I don’t know, call it woo woo, but the trees and I, we were having a deep conversation.

If we are open to it, magic is everywhere.

I felt deeply connected to myself in that moment, to nature and to something less tangible than that.

That is what happens when we allow for the stillness. When we embrace the pause.

The pause is the magic. The magic is in the pause.
