Creating your Life Worth Living

Recently, I was talking with my therapist about the steps of recovery which she labeled as — safety, meaning making, and connection.

You have to start with establishing safety first, in your environment, body and mind, before you can move on to the other two.

Without these key ingredients, our addictions, bad habits, mundane autopilot lives will seem tempting to continue to fall into.

When we gain clarity that life can look different, that life can be magic, we can start to move toward a new way of being.

My recovery changed when a therapist introduced and emphasised the importance of finding your Life Worth Living.

Getting clear on what this looked and felt like for me, saved my life. It is what got me through recovery. I could hold on to that no matter what and remind myself of what I was fighting for

When in treatment I started to notice that those who didn’t have a vision of their life worth living or believed that it was possible for them to recover were the ones who stayed stuck or continued to relapse.

You have to believe that your life after recovery or after healing or after a break up … will be better than what was before. You have to at least have the vision and the hope and the willingness to step towards that.

This can be applied to something as big as recovery and addiction, or it can be working through habits you want to break, working towards a new goal - any change you want to make in your life…

You have to understand why you are doing it and believe it is leading you towards something greater. Without this vision and this clarity and this belief, you will stay stuck in your everyday routine - because that is what is comfortable and “safe” to you, it is what is known.

When we gain clarity that life can look different, that life can be magic, we can start to move toward a new way of being. We need to have the belief that what we have gone through is for a purpose, and where we are going is worth the fight.

Here are the three key steps to creating your Life Worth Living —

Steps to creating your Life Worth Living

  1. What is your life worth living? Get clear.

  2. What is blocking you? Find ways to remove the blocks

  3. Believe in yourself and your vision

  4. Take action

What is your life worth living? What gets you up in the morning? What are you working towards?

This mindset can even shift you from living on autopilot to living fully alive.

We discuss all of this and more in detail on this weeks Intuitively Wild Podcast episode, out on Wednesday October 4th.

I also work in depth with my clients to help them get clear on their Life Worth Living, understand and remove their blocks, believe in themselves and take action — reach out if you need support.
